IRRIGATION & FERTILIZATION

Prior to soil preparation, soil samples should be taken to be analyzed for potassium and phosphorus levels. Deficiencies should be compensated for according to analyses results. Potassium and phosphorus are supplied during pre-planting soil cultivation.

Irrigation should begin immediately after planting. During the first days irrigation should be carried out daily. After the plants develop root system, they may be irrigated every 3 to 5 days.

Once the plant has developed a good root system, nitrogen fertilization should commence. Nitrogen can be applied through the irrigation water-system, or by spreading the fertilizer in the field before irrigation and turning the water on immediately after spreading.
